St John Emergency Ambulance reporting is held by the National Ambulance Sector Office (NASO), a joint office of ACC and the Ministry of Health.

Reporting documents show St John's responses to incidents in urban and rural locations. The incidents are immediately life threatening ("purple"), immediately life threatening or time critical ("red"), urgent / potentially serious but not immediately life threatening incidents ("orange"), non-urgent/low acuity (“green”), and non-urgent/low acuity – further telephone triage appropriate ("grey").
