A St John Home Medical Alarm consists of two pieces of equipment – a base unit and a push-button pendant.  The base unit is either connected to a telephone line in your home or to the cellular (mobile) network.   The base unit dials St John in an emergency and allows you to speak to us. The push-button pendant – is usually around the neck or on the wrist, and will work around your home and garden.

If you or your loved one would like to try a St John Home Medical Alarm before you commit, we can arrange an in-home demonstration followed by a free trial period of up to 30 days1.  The full terms and conditions of the trial can be found here.

At the demonstration a St John Representative will visit your home to :

  • Explain how the medical alarm and service works
  • Show you how to call for help
  • Set up a medical alarm for your free trial
  • Tell you about financial assistance

Did you know:

- Falling is more of an issue as we age.
Of people aged 85 years and over, 1 in 4 had at least one ACC claim due to a fall in 2016.

Nearly 9% of people aged over 85 were admitted to hospital for at least one night as a result of a fall2

- Falls are one of the top 4 reasons for phoning 111 for an ambulance3

- Once you are a St John Medical Alarm customer a representative will also offer the opportunity to check your home to identify any fall hazards, using a Home Safety Checklist developed by ACC. They will also provide recommendations to help make your home a safer environment against falls.
